As the Bihar assembly elections draw near, the political climate intensifies, with parties engaging in heightened criticism. RJD chief and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In a tweet, he asserted that the ‘Gujarati model’ for achieving victory will not work in Bihar. Yadav wrote, ‘Oh Modi Ji, you want victory from Bihar and will give factories in Gujarat? This Gujarati formula will not work in Bihar.’ This statement is part of Yadav’s ongoing criticism of PM Modi. Earlier, Yadav criticized Modi over the BJP’s call for a shutdown in response to alleged abuses against Modi’s mother. Yadav advised people from Gujarat against taking Bihar lightly.
The RJD leader questioned if PM Modi had instructed BJP members to abuse the mothers, sisters, and daughters of Bihar. He asked if the people of Gujarat were underestimating Biharis. He highlighted the alleged abuse of teachers, women, students, pregnant women, the elderly, and journalists by BJP members.
PM Modi, on September 2nd, addressed the issue of the alleged abuses against his mother. He stated that he had not anticipated such events in Bihar, where his mother was allegedly insulted from the RJD-Congress platform. He emphasized that these insults were not only directed at his mother but also at the mothers, sisters, and daughters of the country. He expressed his understanding of the pain and suffering this has caused to the people of Bihar. He also mentioned his mother’s significant role in his dedicated service to the nation.
Modi added that the penance of a poor mother and her son’s pain cannot be understood by the ‘princely families’. He accused them of being born with silver spoons and viewing the country and Bihar’s power as their family legacy. He criticized the RJD’s rule in Bihar, alleging rampant crime and the protection of criminals, causing suffering for the women of Bihar.
