Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated the ‘Dev Hast’ robotic surgical system at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Raipur, marking a significant advancement in healthcare for the region. He highlighted that robotic surgery represents a new dimension in the development of medical facilities in Chhattisgarh, calling it a historic moment that would provide cutting-edge and improved treatment to the people of the state. The Chief Minister also announced the construction of a fully-equipped ‘Parivar Niwas’ at AIIMS Raipur to provide accommodation for the families of patients admitted from Chhattisgarh and other states.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of doctors, considering them as the embodiment of God for their life-saving work. The robotic surgery system, named ‘Dev Hast’, will benefit not only Chhattisgarh but also patients from other states admitted to AIIMS Raipur, which continues to be a milestone in providing excellent medical facilities. He mentioned his special connection with AIIMS Raipur, recalling his efforts as a Member of Parliament to establish an AIIMS branch in Chhattisgarh, ensuring that people from other states could access high-quality medical care within their own region. He understands the importance of accommodation for patients’ families, and the government is committed to expanding healthcare infrastructure, including the approval of five new medical colleges in the last 20 months. A 5,000-bed Medicity is also under construction in Nava Raipur. From one medical college at the time of the state’s formation, Chhattisgarh now has 15 medical colleges.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal noted the increasing scope of diseases alongside advancements in medical facilities and highlighted the importance of robotic surgery in modern medicine to enhance medical capabilities and quality. The Chief Minister presented a prize of five thousand rupees to Jyotsna Kiradu, the winner of the competition for naming ‘Dev Hast’. The event was attended by AIIMS Raipur Director and CEO, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Dr. Ashok Jindal, Head of Department Dr. Devjyoti Mohanty, a large number of medical students, and dignitaries.
