Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the controversy surrounding alleged abusive remarks made about his late mother during a Bihar rally. He voiced his disapproval of the incident, specifically targeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav for what he perceived as an attempt to involve his mother in political discourse. The Prime Minister stated that the abusive language used on the Opposition bloc’s campaign stage had caused distress to all mothers and sisters.
Modi shared his remarks after the launch of the Bihar Rajya Jeevika Nidhi Saakh Sahkari Sangh Limited, an initiative aimed at providing financial assistance to women entrepreneurs in Bihar. He addressed approximately 20 lakh women via video conference, recounting his late mother Heeraben Modi’s struggles and dedication to raising him and his siblings while battling poverty. He highlighted her tireless work ethic and sacrifices, emphasizing the profound respect and reverence held for mothers in Indian society. Modi explicitly condemned the offensive language used at the Congress-RJD rally, framing it as an insult to all mothers and sisters in the nation. He contrasted the experiences of those born into privilege with the hardships faced by underprivileged mothers and their children, implicitly criticizing those he referred to as ‘naamdars’ for failing to understand the struggles of the common people.
