Ranchi Police in Jharkhand’s capital city, have exposed a sex trafficking operation on Sunday. A total of 13 individuals, including 11 young women, were taken into custody. Police also seized several mobile phones and other items from the location. Further action is underway. Based on a tip-off, a raid was conducted at the Om Girls Hostel in the Lalpur police station area. The young women are originally from Bengal and their verification is in progress. According to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Ranchi, the police uncovered a large, organized sex trafficking ring operating from the Om Girls Hostel in the Lalpur police station area. Following an investigation, a team led by City Deputy Superintendent of Police (City DSP) K.V. Raman was formed, which included a significant number of female police officers. The team raided the Om Girls Hostel and detained 11 girls for questioning. Preliminary investigations revealed that these girls were kept in the hostel and then sent to various locations to meet clients. The police are conducting thorough interrogations to uncover other individuals involved in the racket and its network. The SSP also mentioned that in recent times, Ranchi Police had taken significant action against sex trafficking rings operating in hotels. Following this, the operators had been changing their locations. Information was received that the racket was now being run through a girls’ hostel. The role of the hostel operator is also being investigated.
