Significant revelations have emerged from the interrogation of Amol Gaikwad, arrested in connection with the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddiqui, by the Mumbai Crime Branch. Gaikwad informed the police that he was in constant contact with the mastermind of the murder, Shubham Lonkar, through ‘Dabba Calling’. Encrypted apps like Signal were used for communication between the two.
Dabba Calling is a technique that uses Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to make calls. A VPN creates an encrypted connection between the device and a remote server, hiding the caller’s true identity and location. This makes it extremely difficult for police and investigative agencies to trace the source of such calls.
