The T20 World Cup 2026 will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Like the previous edition, the tournament will feature 20 teams. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has accelerated preparations for this major tournament. The T20 World Cup 2026 is scheduled to take place from February to March. Potential dates have been revealed, though the venue for the final match remains undecided.
According to reports, the 2026 T20 World Cup will be held from February 7th to March 8th. Matches will be played in at least five locations in India and two in Sri Lanka. The specific venues for each match are yet to be finalized. The ICC is still finalizing the schedule and has informed participating nations about the timeframe.
The location of the T20 World Cup 2026 final is still undetermined. Reports suggest the final could be held in Ahmedabad or Colombo, contingent on whether Pakistan reaches the final. If Pakistan qualifies for the final, the match will not be played in India. Due to strained political relations, India and Pakistan do not play each other in their respective countries.
Fifteen teams have already qualified for the T20 World Cup 2026. These include India, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, USA, West Indies, New Zealand, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, Netherlands, and Italy. The remaining five teams will emerge from two African qualifiers and three Asia and East Asia-Pacific qualifiers. The tournament will follow the same format as the 2024 T20 World Cup: 20 teams will be divided into four groups of five, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Super 8 stage, followed by knockout matches.
