Cyber fraud is on the rise, impacting individuals across all walks of life. Recently, Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot was targeted by cybercriminals. The fraudsters, impersonating Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, contacted the Governor. An investigation revealed the call originated from a fake number. An FIR has been filed at the Central Cyber Police Station based on a complaint from a Raj Bhavan official, and the police are investigating the case.
Governor Gehlot received a phone call on Saturday. The caller claimed to be Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and requested assistance with official matters. The Governor’s suspicion led him to order an investigation, which confirmed the call’s fraudulent nature.
Police investigations following the Governor’s complaint indicate that the call originated in Kolkata. The police are actively searching for the individual responsible.
