Rati Pandey, who gained popularity from the 2008 college drama ‘Miley Jab Hum Tum’, has transitioned from television to Bhojpuri cinema. The series, which aired on Star One, also featured Mohit Sehgal, Sanaya Irani, and Arjun Bijlani. Rati later starred in a film with Khesari Lal Yadav, which was reportedly one of the most expensive Bhojpuri films. Today, on her 43rd birthday, we take a look at her journey.
Born in Assam on September 11, 1982, Rati’s family moved to Patna when she was seven. She completed her schooling in Patna. It’s known that a sister of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput was her classmate.
After graduating from Delhi University, Rati participated in Idea Zee Cinestars ki Khoj in 2006. She then landed a role in CID. Her career progressed with roles in the horror show ‘Raat Hone Ko Hai’ on Sahara One, followed by several commercials. She also appeared in series like ‘Shaadi Street’ and ‘Har Ghar Kuch Kehta Hai’. Subsequently, she starred in the college drama ‘Miley Jab Hum Tum’, which ran for two years. In 2011, Rati played the lead role in the serial ‘Hitler Didi’.
Rati also participated in ‘Laughter Ke Phatake’, ‘Comedy Circus’, and ‘Zee Rishtey Awards’. In 2016, she starred in the hit series ‘Begusarai’. She further took on roles in shows like ‘Porus’ and ‘Vidya’. In 2020, she starred in the serial ‘Shaadi Mubarak’, which was also a success.
In 2024, Rati’s first Bhojpuri film, ‘Rang De Basanti’, was released, starring Khesari Lal Yadav in the lead role. This film was described as one of the most expensive Bhojpuri films and proved to be a blockbuster at the box office. In this film, she played the role of Gauri, and her pairing with Khesari was well-received. Following this, Rati Pandey starred in the film ‘Rishte’ (2025) with Khesari, in which her romantic song ‘Lavang Latiya’ was also popular.
