The Apple iPhone 17 Series has been launched in India, with pre-bookings commencing today. Before considering the new series, it’s important to note that Apple has increased the prices of its iPhone series after four years. The base model price has seen a 28% increase since 2019, while consumer inflation has risen by 36%.
Price increases:
Base Variants: The iPhone 11 was launched in 2019 at an initial price of Rs 64,900. The iPhone 12 was launched in 2020 for Rs 69,990, and the next price hike came in 2021. The iPhone 13 was launched in 2021 at Rs 79,990 instead of Rs 69,990, indicating a Rs 10,000 increase. The iPhone 14, iPhone 15, and iPhone 16, released in 2022, 2023, and 2024 respectively, were launched at Rs 79,990. However, with the launch of the iPhone 17 in 2025, a further price increase of Rs 3,000 has been observed, with the starting price now at Rs 82,900 instead of Rs 79,990.
Pro Variants: The iPhone 12 Pro was launched in 2020 at Rs 1,19,900. The iPhone 13 Pro launched in 2021 at Rs 1,19,900. The iPhone 14 Pro was launched in 2022 for Rs 1,29,900. The iPhone 15 Pro was launched in 2023 for Rs 1,34,900. The iPhone 16 Pro was launched in 2024 at Rs 1,19,900. In 2025, the iPhone 17 Pro has been launched at Rs 1,34,900.
Pro Max Variants: The iPhone 12 Pro Max was launched at Rs 1,29,900, iPhone 13 Pro Max at Rs 1,29,900, iPhone 14 Pro Max at Rs 1,39,900, iPhone 15 Pro Max at Rs 1,59,900, and iPhone 16 Pro Max at an initial price of Rs 1,44,900. The iPhone 17 Pro Max has been launched in 2025 at an initial price of Rs 1,49,900.
Price stability:
The iPhone 14 Plus was launched at an initial price of Rs 89,900, the iPhone 15 Plus at Rs 89,900 and the iPhone 16 Plus at Rs 89,900. There has been no change in the price of the Plus variant.
