The annual general meeting of the Chhattisgarh State Child Welfare Council was held on Thursday at the ‘Vimatara’ Madhupile Chowk, Shantinagar auditorium in Raipur. On this occasion, the president of the council and senior BJP leader Brijmohan Agrawal appealed to society to come forward and help children with disabilities, and to spread the council’s activities to more and more people.
Agrawal stated in his address that the council’s work is not limited to the council alone but is the responsibility of the entire society. He emphasized that every section of society should play an active role in helping children with disabilities. The members of the council who have been nominated to various commissions and boards of the state government should ensure their participation in the council’s schemes and activities. They should take more and more people to the speech therapy center and other institutions so that information about the work being done by the council reaches the society.
The program began with the lighting of the lamp and offering garlands to the idol of Goddess Saraswati. After this, the Vice President of the Council, Dr. Ashok Tripathi, and the General Secretary, Chandresh Shah, welcomed Brijmohan Agrawal by presenting a shawl, a coconut, and a memento.
Officials and members from various districts, including Nathmal Kothari from Durg, Vishwanath Panigrahi from Mahasamund, Arun Chhabra from Bhatapara, Manoj Sharma from Korba, Divyansh Shekhar Chandel from Janjgir-Champa, Genddas Vaishnav from Kabirdham, Manoj Kumar Singh from Kanker, and Kul Prakash and Dhal Singh Sahu from Rajnandgaon, were also welcomed with bouquets.
The new logo of the council was launched on this occasion. General Secretary Chandresh Shah presented the annual report. Mrs. Indira Jain presented the audit report and the proposal for the upcoming budget. The achievements and activities of the institutions run by the council were displayed through video clips.
Former office bearers and members of the council who have been given responsibilities in the commissions/corporations of the Chhattisgarh government were honored. These included Lokesh Kavadiya, President of the Disabled Persons Finance and Development Corporation, Somanath Yadav, Commissioner of Bharat Scouts and Guides, Dr. Salim Raj, President of the Chhattisgarh State Waqf Board, Prafful Vishwakarma, President of the Iron Artisan Development Board, and Amarjit Singh Chhabra, President of the Minorities Commission.
In addition, Ranjita Koreti, a girl from the Balgrah Kondagaon, was honored for winning a gold medal in the Khelo India Judo competition.
Children from the Balgrah presented cultural programs before the general meeting. Parents shared their experiences of the progress made by children in speech therapy and expressed their gratitude to the council.
At the end of the program, tributes were paid to the former treasurer of the council, late J. P. Sabu, and the former executive member, late Shekhar Chandel. The program was conducted by Joint Secretary Rajendra Kumar Nigam. The vote of thanks was given by Mrs. Sunita Chansoria.
