Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly and a prominent figure in the RJD, strongly criticized Jagadguru Swami Rambhadracharya’s assertion that the Manusmriti is the first constitution of India. Speaking at a TV9 Digital Bihar meeting, Yadav labeled Rambhadracharya’s statement as an act of treason. He questioned the place of women, Dalits, and the backward classes in the Manusmriti, urging the public to assess the text’s merits and demerits. Yadav challenged the timeline of India’s independence and the formation of the Indian constitution, emphasizing that the first constitution was established by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. He stated that anyone who considers the Manusmriti as the first constitution is against the constitution and those making such statements are traitors.
