Following devastating floods in Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced a comprehensive compensation package. The floods caused widespread damage, destroying crops, homes, and livestock. Addressing the situation, Mann held meetings with district officials to assess the impact. Farmers will receive ₹20,000 per acre for crop loss, and special surveys are underway to evaluate damage to fields and homes. Homeowners will receive ₹40,000, a significant increase from the previous ₹6,800 provided by the SDRF. Compensation for lost livestock is also included, with ₹37,500 allocated per animal. Mann stated that compensation will be disbursed by Diwali. He acknowledged 55 confirmed deaths and that families of 40 victims have already received compensation. He emphasized that the state is capable of managing the disaster and promised strict action against any officials involved in fraudulent compensation claims. Mann declared that he would prioritize the well-being of the people during this difficult time.
