The Chief Minister, Dr. Mohan Yadav, has announced a significant measure to benefit journalists. The deadline for applications to the health and accident group insurance scheme for communication representatives has been extended from September 22nd to September 27th. Under this scheme, journalists will pay the same premium in the current financial year 2025-26 as they did in the financial year 2024-25.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav emphasized the crucial role of journalists in guiding society, and stated the state government’s unwavering support for them. He further explained that while there has been an increase in insurance premiums compared to the previous year, the government will bear the additional burden. This will result in an estimated additional expenditure of Rs 4.50 crore for the state government.
The Chief Minister clarified that the previously determined premium will be charged to journalists every year to avoid imposing any extra financial burden on them. This decision aims to make the group insurance scheme, managed by the Public Relations Department, more accessible and beneficial for journalists.
