The 8th Bihar Student Parliament was held at the Anugrah Narayan College in Patna, Bihar. The event, organized by Ankit Kumar, saw the presence of Minister Nitin Naveen of the Bihar government as the chief guest. Prominent guests included renowned scholar Maulana Kalbe Rushaid Rizvi, Ratnesh Kushwaha, Rahul Jha, IPS Vikas Vaibhav, Varun Kumar, and advocate Kumar Shanu, along with talented youths from across the state.
Addressing the gathering, IPS Vikas Vaibhav emphasized that the path to a developed India goes through Bihar. He stated that if India is to become developed by 2047, the development of Bihar is essential. He added that Bihar will only be empowered when the youth do not have to leave the state for education or employment. This, he said, would be possible when these opportunities become available within Bihar.
**Bihar’s Annual Per Capita Income Reaches ₹76,490**
Referring to recent data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India, it was highlighted that Bihar is progressing rapidly. The growth rate is 8.64 percent at constant prices and 13.09 percent at current prices, the second highest in the country. The per capita income has also increased from ₹68,624 in 2023-24 to ₹76,490 in 2024-25.
**Bihar’s Lowest Monthly Per Capita Income**
During the event, IPS Vikas Vaibhav pointed out that Bihar lags behind the national average. The average monthly per capita income in the state is only ₹6,374, while it is ₹46,060 in Delhi, ₹35,644 in Telangana, and ₹35,154 in Karnataka. Bihar is also behind neighboring states like Jharkhand (₹10,687) and Uttar Pradesh (₹10,353).
**Per Capita Income to be ₹12,820 by 2030**
Furthermore, Vikas Vaibhav stated that if Bihar continues to grow at a rate of 15 percent, the per capita income in 2030 would be around ₹12,820 and only ₹25,786 in 2035, which is still less than many states today. The event also discussed caste-based and community-based politics and social fragmentation in the context of development.
