The Indian cricket team’s refusal to shake hands with Pakistani players at the Asia Cup 2025 has ignited controversy. Numerous statements and actions have followed, with opinions divided. Some believe India’s stance was justified, while others disagree. One such critic is Manoj Tiwary, a former cricketer. While his opposition to India’s behavior is his personal opinion, he also made a significant false claim.
Tiwary’s primary point of contention was the Indian team’s decision not to shake hands with Pakistani players after the match. He stated this in an interview with InसाइडSport. Tiwary also accused Gautam Gambhir of masterminding the situation to conceal his hypocrisy, claiming Gambhir had previously advocated against the India-Pakistan match. Tiwary alleged that Gambhir used the handshake situation to deflect criticism. However, Tiwary made a false assertion, particularly regarding Suryakumar Yadav. He claimed that Yadav shook hands with the Pakistani captain during the trophy unveiling, which, after investigation, proved untrue. TV9 Hindi had also published a separate story on this matter.
