The government has provided significant relief to the general public by modifying the GST rates. New GST rates will come into effect on September 22nd, prompting air conditioner manufacturers and dealers to initiate pre-booking offers with reduced prices. This pre-booking strategy is driven by the expectation of increased demand for new AC units due to the anticipated price cuts.
Blue Star and Haier, prominent AC manufacturers, have already launched pre-booking programs. These companies assert that the entire benefit of the 10% GST rate reduction will be passed on to customers, potentially saving them up to ₹4,000 per unit, although the actual savings will vary depending on the AC model. The decision to reduce the GST rates from four slabs to two was made during a recent GST Council meeting chaired by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The new GST rates will be 5% and 18%.
