Ducati, renowned globally for its high-performance superbikes, has initiated a global recall affecting two of its models, the Panigale V4 and Streetfighter V4, due to a critical rear axle defect. This issue could potentially cause significant problems, prompting the company to immediately begin checking and replacing parts on affected motorcycles. In India, this recall impacts 393 units, specifically models manufactured between 2018 and 2025. Ducati India is directly contacting customers to arrange for the free replacement of the rear wheel shaft, aiming to prevent potential accidents and prioritize rider safety. The problem isn’t limited to India; Ducati North America has also recalled over 10,000 units. Documents submitted to the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) indicate that 11 cases of axle failure have been reported worldwide, with none occurring in the United States. The exact cause of the axle defect remains undisclosed. However, it’s believed the issue could be related to mileage or torque irregularities on the rear axle, potentially occurring during wheel or chain adjustments. Ducati assures that all owners of affected motorcycles will be notified promptly, and their vehicles will be repaired at no cost. This step underscores the company’s commitment to maintaining customer safety and trust.
