A new rail service was inaugurated between Rajim and Raipur in Chhattisgarh, marking a significant improvement in transportation options for the region. The Chief Minister, Vishnu Deo Sai, flagged off the new MEMU train service from Rajim to Raipur. This event also marked the extension of the Rajim-Raipur-Rajim MEMU train service and the Raipur-Abhanpur MEMU rail service to Rajim. A large number of passengers boarded the train, filled with enthusiasm for their journey to Raipur. The launch of this affordable and accessible rail service has created a joyful atmosphere throughout the area. The new rail service provides residents of Rajim, Gariyaband, and Devbhog with a cost-effective travel alternative to the capital city, Raipur. This is particularly beneficial for students, working professionals, and business people. The connection of Rajim, also known as the ‘Prayag of Chhattisgarh,’ to the railway network will make travel from rural areas to Raipur smoother, more convenient, and more affordable. The state has seen consistent development for the last 19 months under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The government’s investment in railway infrastructure promises a bright future for generations to come. The upgrade from a narrow-gauge to a broad-gauge train service, which was unavailable for eight years, is a testament to these efforts. Currently, approximately 45,000 crore rupees are being invested in railway projects in Chhattisgarh. Approximately 7,000 crore rupees have been allocated in the 2025-26 budget to support the expansion and development of rail services in the region.
