A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 rocked the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky region in Russia on Friday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The seismic event occurred at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles), amplifying its impact along the Pacific coastline. The tremors were felt strongly, causing buildings to shake and prompting authorities to issue a tsunami alert. Videos shared on Russian social media showed the effects of the quake, with furniture and light fixtures moving inside homes and a parked car visibly swaying in the street.
