Aryan Khan, son of Shah Rukh Khan, premiered his debut web series, ‘The Ba****ds of Bollywood,’ on Netflix on September 18, following significant anticipation. The series has made a strong impact in its debut. The show is a satire on the Bollywood industry. It features witty comments, mocking himself, his characters, and even Shah Rukh Khan. The plot revolves around Aasman Singh (Lakshya), whose career begins with a hit film and a subsequent three-film deal. He then lands a film with Karan Johar, leading to challenges. Freddy Sodawala (Manish Chaudhary), a ruthless producer, schemes against actors. Ajay Talwar (Bobby Deol) doesn’t want his daughter in a Karan Johar film, sparking a new conflict. The series includes cameos from stars, including Aamir Khan, Rajamouli, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Badshah. Aryan satirizes Bollywood’s glamour and his own controversies. The show incorporates the debate on nepotism and industry outsiders. Lakshya, Raghav Juyal, Manish Choudhary, Bobby Deol, and Rajat Bedi deliver strong performances. The series’ pace slows down after the fourth episode, and some parts become weaker. Aryan Khan’s direction is commendable, with a creative approach. The background score and music enhance the show, with the song ‘Badli Si Hawa’ gaining popularity.
