Former Deputy Chief Minister Tarkishore Prasad participated in a TV9 digital ‘Baithak’ in Bihar, addressing questions about his political and personal life. He discussed the reasons behind the BJP’s perceived weakness in the Seemanchal region, the implications of SIR (likely referring to a political or policy initiative), and his continued commitment to the BJP. Prasad highlighted the demographic factors and nationalist sentiments as contributing to the BJP’s challenges in Seemanchal, emphasizing the party’s efforts to gain ground in the area. He expressed confidence in the BJP’s future growth in the region, while also noting the significance of addressing local issues that concern the electorate. Prasad commented on the implementation of SIR, mentioning the concerns surrounding foreign infiltration, and stated that its implementation is the purview of the Election Commission of India, supported by Supreme Court rulings.
Prasad also spoke about the need for Bihar to become a developed state. He pointed out that the development in Bihar was limited due to the family-oriented politics until 2005. He mentioned that Bihar is witnessing changes and is now attracting various industries. He emphasized the progress achieved under the double-engine government, acknowledging the time required to build infrastructure. He also addressed the state of Bihar before 2005, highlighting the efforts made to rebuild the state’s infrastructure.
Regarding the RJD, Prasad remarked that the party is essentially the family of Lalu Prasad Yadav. He avoided further comment on internal dynamics and made a point of ensuring that his own family members would not enter politics. Regarding the Nal-Jal scam, he dismissed the accusations as unfounded, highlighting that his brother-in-law still runs his shop and adding that his government does not protect or falsely implicate anyone. He emphasized that while it is easy to make accusations, especially corruption charges, it is important to conduct proper investigations when necessary.
