The US Chamber of Commerce has voiced its concern regarding President Donald Trump’s executive order mandating a $100,000 fee for companies sponsoring H-1B visa applicants. The Chamber is collaborating with the administration to thoroughly assess the ramifications and identify the optimal course of action. The statement released by the US Chamber of Commerce highlighted worries about the impact on employees, their families, and employers. The new directive, set to take effect on September 21st, imposes the fee on new H-1B visa applications. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt clarified that this is a one-time fee, not an annual charge, and applies only to new petitions. Furthermore, the fee does not affect current H-1B visa holders who are outside the country. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is evaluating the complete consequences of Trump’s order, with Indian industry also conducting an initial analysis. The US Chamber of Commerce is actively reviewing the full implications of the fee hike.
