In the Kumang village of the Tapkara police station area, the police arrested Premchand Sahu on Saturday night, the accused in the murder of Saraswati Kumari, a minor girl who was in a live-in relationship. The incident occurred on Saturday morning. Inspector Ashok Kumar Singh of Torpa zone and Tapkara police station in-charge Nitesh Kumar Gupta, informed about the arrest at a press conference held at the Torpa police station on Sunday. Premchand Sahu, the arrested individual, hails from Malgo village in the Lapung police station area of Ranchi. It was reported that the police received a tip-off that the accused, Premchand Sahu, was planning to escape on a motorcycle. Acting on the information, a raid was conducted, and he was apprehended within the Torpa police station area. During interrogation, the accused confessed to killing Saraswati Kumari. Based on his statements, the knife used in the murder, the motorcycle, a bag and a mobile phone were recovered. The raiding team included Torpa Circle Police Inspector Ashok Kumar Singh, Torpa Police Station in-charge Mukesh Kumar Hemberam, Tapkara Police Station in-charge Nitesh Kumar Gupta, SI Shyamal Kumbhkar, along with armed forces personnel from Torpa and Tapkara police stations. He has been sent to judicial custody. The Tapkara police station in-charge denied rumors that the accused Premchand Sahu had escaped with handcuffs and was caught after three hours. He clarified that some baseless news regarding the escape of the accused was circulating on social media.
