Modi launched a nationwide ‘GST Bachat Utsav’ (Savings Festival), positioning the reforms as a significant step towards ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India) and inclusive growth. The Prime Minister specifically mentioned that purchasing houses, TVs, refrigerators, scooters, bikes, and cars will become more accessible. Additionally, he noted the reduced GST on most hotel rooms would make travel more budget-friendly. Modi praised shopkeepers for their enthusiastic response to the GST reforms, noting their efforts to pass on savings to customers. He also highlighted the display of price comparisons, showcasing savings before and after the reforms, and extended greetings on the commencement of Navratri, symbolizing a step forward in the Aatmanirbhar Bharat campaign. The new generation GST reforms began on September 22, marking the launch of the GST Bachat Utsav across India, aimed at enhancing savings and making purchases easier.
