Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has written to Azim Premji, the founder-chairman of Wipro, seeking assistance in alleviating traffic congestion on Bengaluru’s Outer Ring Road (ORR), particularly near the Iblur junction. The Chief Minister proposed allowing limited vehicle access through the Wipro campus to reduce road congestion. The letter was sent on September 19th. Siddaramaiah highlighted the severe traffic jams during peak hours on the ORR, negatively affecting commutes, productivity, and the overall quality of life in the city. The proposal suggests a collaborative approach, contingent on mutual agreement and necessary safety measures. According to initial assessments by traffic and urban mobility experts, allowing certain vehicles to pass through the Wipro campus could potentially reduce traffic congestion by up to 30% during office hours in the surrounding areas of the ORR. Siddaramaiah urged Wipro to engage in discussions with government officials to formulate a mutually beneficial plan. He believes this partnership would contribute to making Bengaluru a better city.
