The 71st National Film Award ceremony celebrated the best of Indian cinema in 2023. While Shah Rukh Khan, Vikrant Massey, Mohanlal, and Rani Mukerji received accolades, young Treesha Thosar stole the show. Thosar won the National Film Award for Best Child Artist for her performance in the Marathi film ‘Naal 2’.
Thosar captured hearts when she graced the stage in a white saree. Even Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji were visibly delighted as she received her award, with the audience cheering loudly.
Expressing her gratitude on Instagram, Thosar wrote, “I still don’t fully understand what I have achieved, but I do know this much—that through this award, the name of my Maharashtra state and my entire family has been elevated. And as my mother said, in the past 70 years of National Awards, I am the youngest child artist ever to receive this honor.”
Thosar also expressed her gratitude to her parents, family, the film team, director Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti, and the jury members. She also thanked her audience for their support.
‘Naal 2’ is written and directed by Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti, and produced by Nagraj Manjule under the banner Aatpat Production and Zee Studios. Its prequel, ‘Naal’, also won a National Film Award in 2019. The movie also stars Shrinivas Pokale, Nagraj Manjule, Devika Daftardar, Deepti Devi and Jitendra Joshi.
