A video circulating online showcases a dark satin blue luxury Range Rover navigating the streets. The focus, however, is drawn to the car’s number plate. The video’s caption playfully notes how the number plate seems to outshine the car itself. Shared on August 21st, the video has garnered over 2.1 million views. The comments section is filled with engagement, with users noting the plate’s appeal. Some remark on how the plate’s combination appears like ‘Choice,’ and suggest that it is unique in India. Others estimate its value, with some suggesting it cost 34 lakh. The car owner has been hailed as exceptionally lucky. This comes after Chandigarh’s RLA (Registering and Licensing Authority) held an e-auction for fancy numbers in August. The 0001 number from the CH01-DA series sold for 36.43 lakh rupees, setting a record. Starting from a base price of just 50,000 rupees, the bidding escalated. Other numbers like 007 (associated with James Bond) sold for 16.50 lakh rupees, 0003 for 17.84 lakh, and 0009 for 16.82 lakh. Over the four-day auction (August 19th to 22nd), 577 number plates were sold, generating a record revenue of 4.08 crore rupees for the RLA, surpassing the previous year’s earnings by 1.1 crore. Today, luxury cars and unique number plates symbolize more than mere identification, representing status. Numbers like 0001 or 0007 are sought after to showcase success and exclusivity.
