An inspection of an unregistered madrassa in the Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh led to a disturbing discovery: forty girls, aged between 9 and 14, were found locked inside a toilet. The district administration had been investigating complaints regarding the illegal operation of the madrassa, which was located in a three-story building in Pahalwara village. During the inspection, authorities were initially prevented from accessing the upper floors. However, with police assistance, they gained entry and discovered the locked toilet on the terrace. Upon opening the door, the girls emerged, reportedly unable to communicate. Local sources indicated that the madrassa had been functioning for three years without proper registration.
