At the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay strongly advocated for significant reforms within the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). Tobgay explicitly stated that countries like India and Japan, which are deserving, should be granted permanent membership, given the evolving global realities. This statement follows India’s long-standing pursuit of this goal, recently reiterated during the BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting.
