A distressing incident of child abuse has come to light in Panipat, Haryana, where a seven-year-old boy was subjected to a cruel punishment for failing to complete his homework. Disturbing videos from a school on Jattal Road have surfaced on social media, showcasing the principal and staff members’ violent actions towards young students. One video depicts the school driver, Ajay, suspending the Class 2 student upside down and thrashing him. Another video shows Principal Reena repeatedly slapping the children. The child’s mother stated that her son had recently been enrolled in the school and alleged that the principal instructed the driver to administer the punishment. The principal claimed she had informed the parents before disciplining the student, who she said had misbehaved. She admitted to summoning Ajay to scold the boy on August 13. The driver was reportedly dismissed that same month. However, the family claims the driver sent individuals to their home to intimidate them following the video’s release. The Model Town Police have registered a case under the Juvenile Justice Act (2015), with investigations underway, and the principal and driver face imminent arrest.
