India’s spin bowler, Varun Chakaravarthy, known for his performance in the Asia Cup 2025 final, celebrated the win with a lighthearted jab at Pakistan. He shared a photo on X (formerly Twitter) of himself relaxing in bed with a teacup, along with an image of his teammates celebrating their victory over Pakistan with an ‘imaginary trophy’. His tweet, which read, “Akkha duniya ek taraf, aur mere India ek taraf. Jai Hind,” was a clear reference to Pakistan and ACC head Mohsin Naqvi. This was due to the fact that India did not receive the actual trophy following the post-match ceremony, which was marred by confusion.
The Indian team as a whole seemingly mocked Naqvi’s actions, with some players casually scrolling through their phones while Naqvi stood on the podium. Many also chose not to accept their individual awards or shake hands with the ACC president, which resulted in Naqvi leaving the stadium with the trophy. This isn’t the first time Chakaravarthy has poked fun at Pakistan with a teacup; after India’s Champions Trophy win against New Zealand in 2025, he posted a photo of himself drinking coffee with the trophy, captioned, “A lot of distance was travelled to get a taste of this Cup.”
Pakistan’s defeat against India occurred three times during the tournament. As a result, the ACC Chairman removed India’s trophy in a very disgraceful act following which his reputation was greatly damaged.
