An advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has suggested that Iran should consider joining the defense pact between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi, the top advisor, viewed the Pakistan-Saudi Arabia defense pact as a positive development. He recommended that Iran, along with Iraq and other nations, should also become a part of this agreement. Safavi emphasized the importance of Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq forming a collective regional power to enhance security cooperation. The pact, a Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement, was signed during a state visit by Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Riyadh. This agreement signifies that any aggression against one nation would be considered an attack against both.
