The Citroën C3 Aircross has earned a prestigious 5-star safety rating for adult occupant protection from the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP). The SUV scored 27.05 points out of a possible 33 for adult safety and 40 out of 49 for child occupant protection, leading to a 4-star rating for child safety. This recognition makes the Aircross the 22nd vehicle to receive a 5-star rating under the Bharat NCAP program. However, it’s worth noting that the Aircross’s adult safety score is among the lowest of all 5-star-rated cars in the program.
In-depth assessment by Bharat NCAP revealed that the Citroën Aircross’s structure and footwell area demonstrated stability, showing their capacity to withstand further forces. Protection levels for adult occupants were deemed good to adequate across all body regions during frontal and side impact tests. The SUV also performed well in the side pole test, with curtain airbags providing complete head protection.
For child occupant safety, the Aircross offered full protection to both 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies when secured in rearward-facing child seats utilizing ISOFIX anchorages and support legs. The model also features i-Size anchorages as standard, which simplify and enhance child seat installation.
The Citroën Aircross boasts over 40 active and passive safety features, including six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), hill-hold assist, all-seat 3-point seatbelts with reminders, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). Its body structure is constructed using High Strength Steel (HSS), Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS), and Ultra High Strength Steel (UHSS) to improve crash energy absorption and minimize cabin intrusion.
For comfort and convenience, the SUV offers LED projector headlamps, automatic air-conditioning, power-folding ORVMs, a soft-touch dashboard, rear AC vents, and ergonomically positioned power window switches.
Transmission options comprise a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual, and a 6-speed automatic. Seating configurations include a 5-seater and a versatile 5+2 seater. Engine choices consist of a 1.2L PureTech 110 turbocharged petrol engine producing 110 PS and 205 Nm and a 1.2L PureTech 82 naturally aspirated petrol engine.
The Citroën Aircross is available at a price range of Rs 8.32 lakh to Rs 14.10 lakh (ex-showroom).
