The Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, an initiative by the Bihar government, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi via video conference. The program aims to empower women and promote self-employment opportunities. As a part of the scheme, the Prime Minister transferred an initial installment of Rs 10,000 each directly into the bank accounts of 75 lakh women beneficiaries across Bihar. The total sum disbursed amounted to Rs 7,500 crore. The scheme intends to provide financial assistance to women, enabling them to pursue chosen employment or livelihood activities, thus encouraging economic independence and social empowerment. Beneficiaries can utilize the funds in various sectors including agriculture, animal husbandry, handicrafts, tailoring, weaving, and small-scale enterprises. The initiative will involve community resources, including training from Self Help Groups and the development of Gramin Haat-Bazaars to support product sales. The launch of the scheme was marked by a statewide program across multiple administrative levels, with over 1 crore women participating.
