Israeli forces have apprehended former Pakistani senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, who was leading the Pakistani delegation aboard the Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla. The Israeli forces intercepted and boarded the ship. The Pak-Palestine Forum reported on X, “Former Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan has been arrested by Israeli occupying forces. This is the time to step out of your homes and demand the release of Senator Mushtaq Ahmed and the volunteers from 44 countries with him.” According to the forum, only one ship, an observer boat, managed to escape, with the duty of gathering information. Syed Uzair Nizami, the second delegate, was on this boat and shared details of the interception. This occurred amid President Donald Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan, which reportedly has support from Arab and Muslim nations, including Pakistan. It is speculated that President Trump is pressuring Pakistan to recognize Israel and join the Abraham Accord. Pakistan does not recognize Israel, and Gaza is a sensitive issue. The Israeli foreign ministry posted on X, “Already several vessels of the Hamas-Sumud flotilla have been safely stopped and their passengers are being transferred to an Israeli port. Greta and her friends are safe and healthy.”
