The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed Rajya Sabha member Aditya Sahu as the working president of its Jharkhand unit. Sahu expressed gratitude to PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, emphasizing that the party and national interest are his top priorities. He pledged to serve the BJP with honesty, commitment, and dedication.
The appointment was made by the party’s national president, JP Nadda. Sahu replaces former MP Ravindra Kumar Rai, who was given the charge last October before the state assembly elections. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha defeated the BJP-led NDA in the assembly elections. Sahu was nominated to the Rajya Sabha in 2022 and was elected unopposed.
The decision to replace Ravindra Kumar Rai within a year underscores the party’s efforts to reorganize the state unit and strengthen its organizational structure in the eastern state. Sahu thanked PM Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, JP Nadda, and other leaders for their trust. Sahu, who has been a BJP worker since 1980, stated his commitment to serving the party with honesty and dedication, prioritizing the party and national interests.
Upon arriving at the party’s state office in Ranchi, Sahu was welcomed by several party leaders. He expressed his gratitude to the top leadership and stated that he would fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to him. Recalling his early struggles, Sahu mentioned how he was given the task of distributing slips during elections in 1980. He was a dedicated worker for the party even during harsh winters.
He shared that the party had given him various responsibilities, including district vice-president, and he served as a member of the state working committee four times. He also served as the organization’s general secretary of Jharkhand BJP twice. Now, he has been given the responsibility of the working state president, which he will fulfill with complete integrity.
By appointing Aditya Sahu, who belongs to the Other Backward Classes (OBC), as the Jharkhand state working president, the BJP leadership aims to cultivate the OBC vote bank in Jharkhand. Sahu hails from Kunchu village in Ranchi and has been associated with the BJP for over four decades. He is considered to have a strong hold among the public. Currently, he is a BJP Rajya Sabha MP and has also worked as a teacher for children for a long time.
