In the core Naxal-affected region of Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, a female Maoist was severely injured in an IED blast. The explosion occurred in the Bandepara jungle area of the Madder police station. The IED was planted by the Maoists themselves. Following the blast, the woman’s fellow Maoists fled the scene, taking her weapon and leaving her injured in the jungle. Local villagers informed the police about the incident. The Madder police team arrived at the scene and, with the help of villagers, brought the injured female Maoist out of the jungle. After initial treatment, she was taken to the Bijapur District Hospital, where she is currently receiving medical care. According to the police, the injured Maoist has been identified as Gujja Sodhi, who has been active in the Madder Area Committee for the past 6-7 years. She was working as a party member with ACM Kanna Buchchana and possessed a 12-bore weapon. Security forces have stated that this incident is evidence of the Maoists’ ruthless mindset and internal failures, where they abandoned their own comrades to die in an accident. The police are currently conducting a search operation throughout the area.
