A delegation from the MGNREGA Employees Union met with the Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC) in Palamu, urging the inclusion of their regularization claims before a newly formed internal committee. The union submitted a memorandum highlighting the precarious future of MGNREGA workers who have served diligently for years. Union President Pankaj Singh emphasized the significant contributions of these workers to rural development, yet their lack of permanent status creates uncertainty. He pointed out that while the state government is regularizing contract staff in other departments, MGNREGA personnel have been overlooked, causing widespread disappointment. State Convener Devendra Upadhyay reiterated the long-standing demands of the MGNREGA staff and expressed hope for administrative action towards regularization. The union warned of potential protests if their demands are not met with a positive decision soon.
