A fierce exchange of gunfire erupted near Balsiring in the Tupudana OP area, leading to the apprehension of two key members of the notorious Sujeet Sinha gang. One criminal sustained injuries during the morning encounter. Police have also recovered three firearms from the scene of the operation.
The shootout is reportedly linked to a recent firing incident at the residence of Monu Rai in Ranchi’s Doranda police station area. According to preliminary reports, the arrested individuals, identified as Aftab (injured) and Sonu, along with another associate, opened fire at Rai’s home under the direction of Sujeet Sinha.
Rural SP Praveen Pushkar confirmed the encounter, stating that one criminal was shot and two others were taken into custody. The recovered weapons include three pistols. Investigations are actively ongoing to uncover the full extent of the gang’s activities.
The operation was initiated following intelligence received by SSP Rakesh Ranjan regarding the movement of Sinha’s gang members. A coordinated effort involving Rural SP Praveen Pushkar, Hatiya DSP P.K. Mishra, and multiple police station teams was launched. Increased checking across the city, including on motorcycles, led to a crucial breakthrough. During a routine check, a pistol was found on a bike rider.
Upon rigorous questioning, the rider was identified as Sonu, a wanted criminal associated with the Sujeet Sinha gang. Sonu revealed the location of his accomplices, who were reportedly drinking at the Balsiring hills. Acting swiftly on this information, Rural SP Praveen Pushkar formed a team to apprehend the remaining gang members. As the police approached, the criminals opened fire, prompting a retaliatory response. Aftab was hit by a police bullet during the exchange, and another associate was arrested. Both apprehended criminals are currently undergoing interrogation. SSP Rakesh Ranjan arrived at the scene to gather firsthand information about the operation.
