A prominent legislator has urged the Chief Minister of Jharkhand to intensify efforts in pressuring the Indian government to expedite the extradition of notorious gangster Mohammad Haider Ali, also known as Prince Khan. The gangster is currently seeking refuge in the United Arab Emirates, specifically Dubai. The MLA highlighted that despite previous requests from the Jharkhand government’s Home Department to the central government in October 2023, and subsequent directives from the Ministry of Home Affairs to relevant divisions, the extradition process remains stalled after two years. Prince Khan’s criminal activities, once confined to Dhanbad, have now alarmingly spread to Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Bokaro, and other areas. Reports indicate that merchants and doctors in the legislator’s constituency and in Ranchi have been targeted, receiving extortion demands ranging from two to five crore rupees via untraceable phone numbers. The gangster’s associates reportedly resort to open firing and intimidation tactics against those who refuse to comply. These expanding criminal operations are a significant concern for law and order in the state. The legislator had previously raised this issue in the Jharkhand Assembly, where the government assured swift action, including Prince Khan’s extradition and the dismantling of his gang. However, the lack of progress has allowed the gangster’s terror to escalate, directly impacting the safety and business environment in major cities.
