Exciting news for cricket fans as Nepal and Oman have clinched their places in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. These two nations showcased exceptional skill and determination throughout the Asia/East Asia Pacific (Asia-EAP) Qualifier tournament, held in Al Amerat, Oman, to earn their coveted spots.
Nepal, led by Rohit Paudel, demonstrated remarkable consistency, navigating the group stages and Super Six round without a single loss. Their qualification was a tense affair, sealed by a dramatic one-run victory against the UAE. Key performances from Aasif Sheikh and Sandeep Lamichhane were instrumental in securing Nepal’s passage to their second consecutive T20 World Cup, and their third overall after previous appearances in 2014 and 2024.
Oman, playing on home soil, leveraged their familiarity with the conditions to great effect. Under Zeeshan Maqsood’s captaincy, they delivered commanding performances and maintained a strong Net Run Rate, comfortably securing one of the top two positions in the Super Six stage. This marks Oman’s third T20 World Cup appearance, having previously participated in 2016 and 2024.
With these two teams qualifying, 19 of the 20 available slots for the 2026 T20 World Cup have now been filled, leaving just one remaining qualification spot. The tournament, scheduled to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, promises a thrilling display of global cricket talent.
