A video circulating on social media depicts Afghan forces proudly displaying trousers and uniforms belonging to Pakistani soldiers. The footage emerged following escalated border tensions between the two nations, triggered by Pakistani airstrikes targeting alleged Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) strongholds within Afghanistan. These strikes reportedly resulted in civilian casualties.
In retaliation, Afghan forces launched attacks on multiple Pakistani military posts along the disputed Durand Line. Reports indicate that Afghan forces neutralized over 50 Pakistani soldiers and confiscated significant military hardware, including tanks and weapons, along with the soldiers’ uniforms. The viral video highlights these seized items, particularly the Pakistani military trousers.
This border confrontation prompted Pakistan to announce a 48-hour ceasefire. The Pakistani Foreign Office stated a commitment to finding a resolution through dialogue. However, Afghan officials suggested the ceasefire was initiated at Pakistan’s request. Afghanistan’s Taliban government has previously asserted its desire for peace but also warned Pakistan of alternative actions if peace initiatives are not reciprocated. Afghan officials have consistently denied allegations of harboring TTP militants, asserting that Afghan territory is not used to threaten neighboring countries.
