Ayodhya’s 9th annual Deepotsav celebration on Sunday captivated the globe, etching three new Guinness World Records into history. The sacred city, revered as the birthplace of Lord Ram, illuminated the night sky with an astounding 2,617,215 diyas lit simultaneously at Ram Ki Paidi. This record-breaking event was further enhanced by a dazzling laser show and a breathtaking drone spectacle, featuring 1,100 drones painting celestial art across the heavens. Complementing the visual splendor, 2,128 priests gathered on the banks of the Saryu River to perform a unified Maha Aarti, creating an atmosphere of profound spiritual energy. The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department, in collaboration with state and local administrations, orchestrated this monumental feat of lighting over 2.6 million oil lamps, a testament to meticulous planning and execution. This year’s Deepotsav not only broke its own previous records but also reinforced Ayodhya’s status as a beacon of cultural and spiritual grandeur. The festival, which began in 2017 with 171,000 diyas, has seen a dramatic escalation in scale and ambition each year, culminating in this spectacular 2025 edition. Beyond the record-setting illuminations, the celebration featured vibrant cultural showcases, including tableaux depicting epic Ramayana scenes and artistic performances that celebrated India’s rich heritage, truly showcasing the unparalleled spirit of Bharat.
