As the festive season approaches, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has issued a strong appeal to citizens to champion Indian-made products. Ahead of Diwali 2025, he urged everyone to proudly declare, “Garv Se Kaho Yeh Swadeshi Hai” (Say proudly, this is indigenous), celebrating the immense talent and hard work of 140 crore Indians. This initiative powerfully reinforces the government’s ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign, aiming to bolster small businesses and enhance India’s economic self-sufficiency.
The Prime Minister encouraged citizens not only to purchase domestic goods but also to share their “Swadeshi” hauls on social media. This public sharing is intended to inspire a ripple effect, motivating more people to support local artisans, weavers, and entrepreneurs. By prioritizing homegrown items, consumers can directly contribute to the prosperity of local communities and strengthen the nation’s economic backbone.
Adding star power to the movement, several prominent Bollywood and television personalities have joined forces. A special promotional video features stars like Madhuri Dixit, Varun Dhawan, Triptii Dimri, Sunil Grover, Rupali Ganguly, and Shankar Mahadevan, underscoring the significance of supporting local vendors. These celebrities are highlighting the unique charm and personal connection associated with shopping locally, from specific crafts to everyday needs, amplifying the campaign’s reach and impact nationwide.
