Bollywood is buzzing with anticipation for ‘Ikkis,’ starring Agastya Nanda in his much-awaited debut. Sharing the screen as his love interest is newcomer Simar Bhatia, who is already making waves. What’s more, Simar holds a special connection to the industry – she is none other than the niece of superstar Akshay Kumar.
Simar Bhatia is the daughter of Alka Bhatia, Akshay Kumar’s sister, and her former husband, Vaibhav Kapoor. While her mother later married real estate mogul Surendra Hiranandani, Simar has carved her own path, often staying out of the public eye. She pursued higher education in the United States, developing a passion for the creative arts.
The trailer’s release prompted an emotional outpouring from Akshay Kumar. He took to Instagram, expressing immense pride in his niece’s transition from ‘living room performances’ to the ‘big screen in #Ikkis.’ He also lauded Agastya Nanda’s screen presence and wished the entire cast and crew success.
Simar affectionately responded, calling herself Akshay’s ‘little Simi’ and thanking him. Akshay’s wife, author Twinkle Khanna, also shared her admiration on social media, describing Simar as ‘refreshingly natural’ and a ‘talented little one.’ Simar humbly replied that she felt blessed, given Twinkle’s celebrated writing talent.
In ‘Ikkis,’ Simar Bhatia plays a pivotal role as the romantic lead opposite Agastya Nanda. The film chronicles the heroic life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra awardee, renowned for his bravery in the Battle of Basantar. The film, also featuring veteran actor Dharmendra, Jaideep Ahlawat, Sikandar Kher, and Deepak Dobriyal, is set for a December 2025 release.
