The Jammu and Kashmir Police have received the prestigious Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak, acknowledging their extraordinary bravery and commitment during ‘Operation Mahadev’. This significant award recognizes the critical role played by the police team in successfully executing a high-risk counter-terror operation following the tragic Pahalgam attack.
Among the distinguished awardees is IGP Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, alongside other senior officials including DIG Pande Rajiv Omprakash, SSP Srinagar G V Sundeep Chakraborty, SPs Tanweer Ahmed Dar and Zoheb Tanveer, and DSPs Vikram Nag, Shakir Hassan, Mubashir Naiz, and Taseer Hamid. The recognition extends to constables and technical staff, highlighting a collective effort in achieving operational success.
The Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak celebrates excellent work and upholds professional standards in specialized fields like counter-terrorism, investigations, intelligence gathering, and forensic science. The announcement coincided with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary on October 31, 2025.
‘Operation Mahadev’, conducted in the forested areas near Dachigam National Park in Srinagar, was a direct response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack. This swift and decisive operation led to the neutralization of three Pakistani terrorists, including Suleiman alias Asif, identified as a key planner of the earlier deadly assault. The successful operation underscores the J&K Police’s unwavering dedication to safeguarding peace and security in the region.
