US Vice President JD Vance recently shared his personal faith journey and aspirations for his family, expressing a desire for his Hindu wife, Usha, to eventually embrace Christianity. Speaking at a Turning Point USA rally in Mississippi, Vance addressed questions about interfaith dynamics in relationships, emphasizing that while he hopes for his wife’s conversion, he respects her free will. He stated, “I believe in the Christian gospel, and I hope eventually my wife comes to see it the same way, but if she doesn’t, then God says everybody has free will, and so that doesn’t cause a problem for me.” Vance explained that he and Usha, who met as agnostic or atheist individuals at Yale University, have decided to raise their children as Christians. He highlighted the importance of open communication in navigating religious differences, whether between different Christian denominations or between believers and non-believers. Vance himself returned to Christianity after a period of agnosticism and now practices Catholicism. He later clarified on X that his wife has no immediate plans to convert, reiterating his love and support regardless of their differing beliefs.
