A distressing incident has emerged from Sudan, where 36-year-old Indian national Adarsh Behera has reportedly been abducted. Behera, originally from the Jagatsinghpur district in Odisha, was allegedly taken by Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Al Fashir. This alarming event occurs amidst the brutal civil war that continues to plague the nation. Al Fashir, a strategic city, recently fell to the RSF after an extensive 18-month siege, marking it as the military’s final stronghold in the Darfur region. Sources suggest Behera may have been moved to Nyala, another area under RSF control in South Darfur. Behera had relocated to Sudan three years prior to pursue employment at the Sukarati Plastic Factory. His wife has shared that the couple are parents to two young sons, aged eight and three. A disturbing video circulating online shows Behera seated between two RSF soldiers, with one interrogating him. This incident highlights the precarious and unpredictable nature of the ongoing conflict and its impact on foreign nationals.
