The Kannada film industry is mourning the loss of veteran actor Harish Rai, who passed away on November 6 after a courageous fight with cancer. Rai, widely recognized for his impactful role in the blockbuster KGF franchise alongside Yash, succumbed to thyroid cancer after battling the illness for over a year. The news of his demise has sent shockwaves through the film community.
His funeral, held recently, was attended by numerous well-wishers and colleagues from the industry. Prominently present was his KGF co-star Yash, who not only paid his final respects but also provided comfort and support to Rai’s grieving family. Videos circulating online show Yash engaging with Rai’s son, offering solace during this difficult time. This gesture highlights the camaraderie and deep respect shared between the actors.
Rai had previously spoken candidly about the immense financial challenges associated with his cancer treatment. He revealed the staggering cost of medication, noting that a single injection amounted to over ₹3.55 lakh, with multiple injections required per treatment cycle, resulting in substantial expenses. Despite these hardships, Rai maintained a dignified demeanor and expressed gratitude for any support he received.
He had also addressed reports about potential assistance from Yash, clarifying that while they shared a strong bond and Yash had helped him in the past, he refrained from continuously seeking financial aid. Rai had expressed confidence that Yash, if aware of his situation, would offer support, acknowledging the busy schedule of his KGF co-star with his upcoming project ‘Toxic’.
