The South Chotanagpur Regional Police Sports Competition commenced Friday at the Police Line on Kanke Road, Ranchi. This three-day event was inaugurated by Ranchi Zone Inspector General (IG) Manoj Kaushik, alongside Ranchi SSP Rakesh Ranjan and the Superintendents of Police from Simdega and Khunti, who officially launched the games by releasing balloons. Addressing the attendees, IG Manoj Kaushik highlighted the dual benefits of sports, emphasizing their role in enhancing both physical and mental capabilities while simultaneously alleviating stress. He acknowledged stress as a significant challenge for police officers and underscored the importance of maintaining fitness to combat it, a goal best achieved through athletic engagement. SSP Rakesh Ranjan further elaborated that sports are an integral part of a police officer’s routine, contributing to their physical prowess. He stressed that peak performance within the police department necessitates a fit workforce, thereby amplifying the significance of sports for the police force. The competition features over a dozen disciplines, including volleyball, basketball, football, handball, hockey, kabaddi, karate, and various track and field events. Top performers in this regional tournament will earn the opportunity to compete at the national level. Police teams from Ranchi, Lohardaga, Simdega, Khunti, and Gumla districts are participating, showcasing their athletic talents over the three-day event. Numerous police personnel were present for the opening ceremony.
